What extra costs might come up?

| Item | Price (incl. GST) |
|---|---|
| Coffin range | From $1,500 |
| Saturday service surcharge | $1,760 |
| Sunday service surcharge | $1,980 |
| External venue (church or hall) | From $300 |

Other things that may cost extra, depending on your plans, include a celebrant or clergy, extra flowers, newspaper notices, printed stationery and catering. We'll always list these on your quote before you agree to anything. You can also browse our coffin range.
Why are cemetery fees charged separately?
Cemetery fees are set by the council that runs the cemetery, not by the funeral director. That's why we pass them on at the council's price as a separate line, called a disbursement.
South Burnett Regional Council manages 11 cemeteries across the region. Its fees are reviewed each year, and full payment is required before Council issues approvals. Council doesn't accept payment plans for cemetery fees. If you already hold a reservation for a grave, that's great, but the reservation fee doesn't cover the interment fee, which is paid when the Burial Application is lodged. (South Burnett Regional Council)
Cemetery fees vary depending on the cemetery, the type of grave or ashes placement, and the year, so please ask us. We'll check the current fee with the council and include it in your written quote. You can also contact South Burnett Regional Council directly on (07) 4189 9100.
Do funeral directors in Queensland have to show their prices?
Yes. Since 1 July 2022, the Fair Trading (Funeral Pricing) Regulation 2022 has required Queensland funeral directors to display an itemised price list on their website and at each place of business. That includes the price of their least expensive package. If you ask for an itemised quote before signing anything, the funeral director must give it to you within 48 hours (or longer if you agree), or before the agreement is signed, whichever comes first. (Queensland Government – Office of Fair Trading)
That means you can compare funeral homes fairly. Our full price list is published on our pricing page.
How do Kingaroy funeral prices compare with Brisbane?
In July 2026 we gathered indicative quotes from three large metropolitan providers. On average, they quoted $3,990 for an unattended cremation, $9,500 for a simple cremation service and $10,500 for a burial service. Our prices for the same services are $2,950, $7,640 and $6,540 (plus cemetery costs). Not every service is exactly comparable, but it gives you a rough idea. Our price match is guaranteed in writing. Just ask us how it works.
How do families pay for a funeral?
Very few people have thousands of dollars set aside. These are the usual ways families cover the cost:
- The estate. Funeral costs are often paid from the person's estate.
- Superannuation. Super can sometimes help with funeral costs. Ask the person's fund what's possible.
- A pre-paid funeral, funeral bond or funeral insurance, if your loved one had one.
- Centrelink. A surviving partner, or a carer, may be eligible for a bereavement payment, depending on your circumstances. (Services Australia)
- Payment plans. We offer HandyPay payment plans, from 6.57% p.a.
- Government funeral assistance. If the person died in Queensland and their estate and family can't pay, the CCQ Funeral Assistance Scheme may arrange a simple cremation or burial. Don't sign a funeral contract before applying, because applications are automatically declined once a contract has been signed. (Coroners Court of Queensland)

How can I keep funeral costs down without losing what matters?
- Choose a direct cremation, then a gathering later. Many families do this, then hold a memorial service or a simple get-together at home.
- Hold the service on a weekday. Weekend surcharges add $1,760 (Saturday) or $1,980 (Sunday).
- Use our chapel. Our Alford Street chapel avoids an external venue fee.
- Ask what's already included. Our cremation service includes 50 printed orders of service and a casket spray.
- Plan ahead. If you pre-plan with us, your family won't have to guess what you wanted.
