Obituary For Hazel Jessie Kruger
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Jessie Kruger formally Harper nee Tierney, who left this world peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on June 30, 1939, in Maryborough, Queensland, Hazel was a cherished daughter of David and Ivy Tierney. She spent her life in Queensland, where she touched the hearts of many with her kindness, spirit, and passion.
Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Desley, and is survived by her loving son, Russell, who will carry her memory in his heart forever. She was a devoted mother who filled their home with laughter, warmth, and an unwavering love that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
In her younger years, Hazel developed a zest for life that saw her engaging in various activities. She found joy in rifle shooting and later embraced the sport of golf, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. As the years went by, her love for sports blossomed into a passion for lawn bowls, and she became a beloved volunteer at local bowls clubs, always eager to lend a helping hand and share her infectious enthusiasm.
Hazel was not just an athlete; she was also an avid sports fan. Her weekends would often involve watching footy, cheering for her AFL team, and revelling in the excitement of cricket matches. Her love for sports was matched only by her deep appreciation for nature, particularly her cherished flowers, with lilies holding a special place in her heart.
A keen traveller, Hazel embarked on numerous overseas trips, making memories that she would share with friends and family for years to come. Her adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world enriched her life and those around her, inspiring many to seek out their own journeys.
Hazel's culinary skills were legendary, particularly her renowned caramel tarts, which brought joy to family gatherings and celebrations. Her baking was a testament to her nurturing nature, as she delighted in creating treats that brought smiles to those she loved.
As we gather to celebrate Hazel’s life, we will remember her for the joy she brought to our lives and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her funeral will be held at the Murgon Cemetery on January 28, 2025, at 12:30 PM. We invite all who knew and loved Hazel to join us in honoring her legacy, sharing stories, and cherishing the memories of a remarkable woman who lived fully and loved deeply.
Those attending the service for Hazel are invited to wear Hazels favorite colors of pink and green.
In our hearts, Hazel will remain a beacon of love, laughter, and the beauty of a life well-lived. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will forever live on in the memories we hold and the lives she touched.
