Obituary For Lorraine Doris Saxelby
It is with a profound sense of sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Doris Saxelby, who left us on January 18, 2025, at the age of 69. Lorraine was born on September 23, 1955, in Avonmouth, Bristol, England, a vibrant and spirited child whose early years were filled with the warmth of her loving family. Her parents, William and Esther Howard, instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience that would define her life.
In her early years, Lorraine made the courageous decision to embark on a new adventure, moving to Australia, where she married her beloved husband, Kevin Saxelby, at the tender age of 16 in Castle Hill, New South Wales. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, welcoming four wonderful sons into their family: Ben, Ross, Will, and Allan. Lorraine's devotion to her family was unwavering, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Lorraine's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She was a dedicated Aged Care Worker, where she devoted her time to caring for others. Her compassion and tireless efforts made a significant impact in the lives of many, bringing comfort and dignity to those she served. Lorraine’s work was not just a job; it was a calling that reflected her loving nature.
Throughout her life, Lorraine maintained close connections with her siblings, including her sisters, Doe and Sheran, and her brother, Michael. The bonds they formed over the years were a source of strength and support, as they shared countless memories and experiences that shaped their lives together.
As a grandmother, Lorraine's heart knew no bounds. She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren: Alana, Erin, Alyssa, Emily, Aiden, Mia, Amelia, Ella, Kara, Maddy, Sophie, Oscar, Lachlan, and Grace. Each grandchild brought her immeasurable joy, and she embraced her role with unreserved love and enthusiasm. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Katelyn, who was the apple of her eye.
Lorraine's journey came to a close in Wattle Camp, Queensland, where she spent her final years surrounded by the beauty of nature and the love of her family. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her kind heart, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. Lorraine exemplified grace and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lorraine Doris Saxelby leaves behind her beloved husband, Kevin, her four sons, her dear siblings and their families, her treasured grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love.
Rest in peace, Lorraine. Your love and light will never be forgotten.
Following the gathering to farewell Lorraine, a private cremation will be held.

I am so upset by Aunty Laine's passing as everyone who knew her would be. She was strong, resilient, and loving of all those she made time for. I have many fond memories from my childhood spending most weekends out at Bocobra Road on the farm, strolling through paddocks with Bella (the cow) following us, or one of the cats we would be going to plant something or look at the creek. I always seen myself as part of her immediate family because she treated me like that. From our cheeky text messages about eating cake without sharing it with one another, or pictures of flowers, animals or crazy gifs or reels. I miss our messages already. I remember so many funny things even down to the glare she'd give if she wasn't happy (mostly to the boys), and they knew to run for their lives 😀. She was kind and generous beyond measure. On my visit over New Years she could hardly keep her eyes open or put any food in her mouth but she made sure to tell me that she loves me and to call her at any time of the day or night if I needed her. That was the type of lady she was-giving to others always before herself. I cannot even imagine the pain Uncle Kev (my favourite dinosaur 🦖) is feeling losing his best friend but I hold close to my heart the image of the 2 of them holding hands on their bed whilst chatting to me only meer weeks ago. Their hearts are bonded together forever. Their love and commitment to eachother and their family is astounding. Aunty Laine is responsible for that. She has always been 'family first'. I love you Aunty to infinity and beyond ❤️
