It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Valerie May Nelson, who left this world peacefully on March 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Valerie was born on June 27, 1935, in the beautiful coastal town of Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. She cherished her roots and carried the spirit of her birthplace throughout her life.

Valerie was the loving daughter of Cecil and Ivy Davis, who instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and faith. She lived a life marked by devotion to her family, beginning with her marriage to Brian Noel Nelson, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, welcoming into the world three beautiful daughters: Lynette May, Cheryle Marie, and Gloria Ann. Valerie's legacy of love will continue through them and the generations that follow.

Throughout her life, Valerie worked diligently as a factory worker, demonstrating an incredible work ethic that inspired those around her. However, her heart was not solely defined by her profession. Valerie was a vibrant soul with a myriad of interests. She had an insatiable love for travel, often sharing stories of her adventures that brought joy to her family and friends. A voracious reader, she found solace and excitement in the pages of many books, and she was always willing to recommend her latest finds.

Valerie was also an active and prominent member of her church, where she found a sense of community and purpose. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, shaping her values and the way she touched the lives of others. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or share a warm smile, making her a beloved figure in her congregation and beyond.

As we mourn the loss of Valerie, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her journey has taken her from the shores of Coffs Harbour to the warm embrace of Murgon, Queensland, where she spent her final years. Valerie's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her daughters and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on April 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at New Horizons Church, located at 15292 Bunya Highway, Murgon, Queensland 4605. We invite all who knew and loved Valerie to join us in remembering her life, celebrating her spirit, and sharing our fondest memories. Valerie's wish was for those who come to celebrate her life to wear bright colours.

Valerie May Nelson will be deeply missed, but her love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Valerie; your legacy of love will forever live on.
